After a tally of votes from yesterday's general election runoff, Mike Dugan leads Bill Hembree in the special Republican primary for the state senate seat open in District 30. Currently claiming close to 56 percent of the vote, Dugan will go on to face Libertarian James Camp on January 8.
With Chip Rogers' resignation from the state senate confirmed yesterday, voters in District 21 will also head back to the polls in January to select a new representative.
At the local level, yesterday's election saw candidate J. Max Davis win 4,177 votes, near 66 percent support, in Brookhaven's mayoral race, and candidates Rebecca Williams, Bates Mattison and Joe Gebbia lead their races for the new city's council seats. In Putnam County, Republican Kelvin Irvin and Democrat Frederick Ward vie in a close race for a county commissioner seat, Ward currently leading Irvin by a slim one percent, some eight votes.
