An independent agency that supports the state's criminal justice system, Georgia Bureau of Investigation assists criminal investigations, provides forensic laboratory services, and updates computerized criminal justice information.
Visit your local sheriff's office or police department for information about obtaining a copy of your state criminal history record, or go to the Georgia Felon Search.
Speak with your local sheriff's office, county police department or district attorney. Those agencies can request a GBI investigation on your behalf.
Send an e-mail to OpenRecords@gbi.state.ga.us and include in your message your full name; mailing address; contact telephone number; the names of the subjects or victims of the investigation or report; the Georgia county or city where the incident occurred; and the date of the investigation or incident associated with your request. You'll hear from the Open Records Unit if you need to pay for the records before they are released.
