On the way to Callaway Gardens, one of Georgia's beautiful roads

Summers present the perfect time for a weekend road trip in Georgia. But keep in mind, arriving to your destination is only half the battle.

First, you have to get there.

With the shaded roads, bright green trees, quick glances of wildlife and rolling hills spotted with cows, there’s so much to see on a drive through the state. It doesn't seem like a chore, but instead as a beautiful journey.

From the winding roads through Pine Mountain near Columbus to the relaxed Scenic Highway 197 in northeast Georgia near Clarkesville, there are many beautiful sights to see on a long trip. The Department of Transportation even deemed 14 roads as Georgia Scenic Byways. Maybe one day, you can drive them all!
