To speed tax disputes through the courts, legislators last spring unanimously passed House Bill 100. By creating the Georgia Tax Tribunal, the bill aims to foster consistency and transparency as businesses and individuals confront complex tax law.
The unpopular “birthday tax” car owners pay ended when Gov. Nathan Deal signed the tax reform bill HB 386 earlier this year. The bill eliminates the annual ad valorem tax car owners pay and the sales tax manufacturers pay for future purchases.
Governor Deal recently announced his plan to remove the Georgia 400 toll at the end of 2013. The announcement detailed to have the state pay off its bond debt on December 1, 2013, and move quickly to eliminate the unpopular toll by the end of that year, stopping collection 4 years earlier than previously planned.
Governor Nathan Deal has issued an executive order to prevent the increase in the state’s gasoline tax scheduled to go into effect July 1.
