Named for the famous battle of the Texas Revolution, Alamo, the county seat of Wheeler County, incorporated on August 16, 1909. Located at the intersection of Ga. 126 and U.S. 280 near the county's western border, Alamo is one of only two cities in Wheeler.
Constructed in 1917, Alamo's county courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This brick courthouse has columned facades on all four sides.
