Cave Spring incorporated in 1852. Its spring continues to produce water to supply the area's distribution system, and many area residents come to the spring at its overflow to fill jugs for their use free of charge.
The Georgia School for the Deaf opened here in 1846 and drew many families with deaf children to the area.
