Glynn County is one of the original eight counties created by the con­stitution in 1777. In Colonial days it was the territory of St. David and St. Patrick parishes. The county recognizes John Glynn, a member of the British House of Commons and a defender of Colonial interests. Brunswick, the county seat, is named for the home of England's Hanoverian rulers.
