Incorporated in 1916, Hinesville, the county seat of Liberty County, remembers Senator Charlton Hines.
One of the popular places to visit in Hinesville is the Old Liberty County Jail. Built in 1882, this attraction contained all the modern conveniences - running water, inside plumbing and fireplaces. The county used this jail until 1972.
Hinesville is the home to the Fort Stewart Military Museum, which focuses on the history of Fort Stewart, the 3rd Infantry Division and the 24th Infantry Division.
