After its incorporation in 1870, Hogansville, a rail town, played home to the largest cotton market in the area. The Great Depression introduced a handful of new federal programs to Hogansville, some of which added several amenities to the community, including tennis courts and an amphitheater that is still in use today.
Today, Hogansville is regarded as a bedroom community.
