Jenkins County, its land taken from Screven, Bulloch, Burke and Emanuel counties, branched off in 1905. Its name acknowledges the contributions of Governor Charles J. Jenkins, while Millen, the county seat, distinguishes noted attorney, John Millen of Savannah.
