Seminole County, created in 1920 from parts of Decatur and Early counties, lies at the southwestern tip of the state. The county pays tribute to the Seminole Indians who, faced with settlement, left their lands in the Chattahoochee River Valley and moved to the Florida Everglades. Donalsonville, the county seat, remembers Jonathan E. Donalson, a prominent citizen of the area.
