Tunnel Hill incorporated as "Tunnelsville" in 1848.

The town boasts interesting structures and an annual Civil War re-enactment. Numurous homes in the area date back 100 years, some of which are in Queen Anne, Gothic Revival, Antebellum, Colonial Revival and Folk Victorian style.
