Incorporated in 1921, Twin City formed from the unification of the cities of Summit and Graymont.
Well known people from the city include country music singer Ginny Wright, professional pool player Johnny Archer and Miss University of Georgia 2006 Janna Gaye Tucker.
George L. Smith State Park, which offers visitors great sceenery, lodging, and lakeside camping, is a local attraction. Visitors can also tour the Parish Mill, built in 1880.
