Incorporated on February 8, 1854, Vienna, the seat of Dooly County, takes its name from the capital of Austria.
The Dooly County courthouse, constructed between 1890 and 1892, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History buffs will also find the Georgia Cotton Museum and the Walter F. George Law Museum of interest.
Vienna hosts the Big Pig Jig, Georgia's oldest and largest barbecue cook-off. This is a festival of arts & crafts, a parade, pageants, a golf tournament, a carnival with rides and games, the 5K "Hog Jog" road race, a People's Choice Tasting Tent, and three nights of big stage shows.
