To start your corporation, LLC or limited partnership, file with the Secretary of State and pay the registration fees. Dissolving a business requires more of your attention and time. Seek legal and financial advice before forming your business.
What You Should Know:
- Name reservations cost $25 (they are optional and only valid for 30 days), original filing fees $100 and annual registration $50.
- No filing fee is charged for corporations submitting Articles of Dissolution or LLCs sending in Certificates of Termination.
- If you've failed to pay the annual registration fee for your business for two consecutive years, your business will be administratively dissolved and you will need to reinstate it. The flat rate to do so is $250.
- Not sure if an LLC meets your needs? See the differences between an LLC, Sole Proprietorship and Corporation.
