Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for 94 Georgia counties in anticipation of Hurricane Irma. The governor has also issued a mandatory evacuation order for all areas east of I-95, all of Chatham County, and some areas west of I-95. See if you're in a mandatory evacuation area with the governor's map (JPG).

West Point Lake

The West Point Lake Holiday campground is open to evacuees. You are encouraged to call the campground in advance at 706-884-6818. You’ll register upon arrival at the campground gatehouse. Please provide identification to verify that you live in one of the impacted areas.

The park is located off GA Highway 109, about 10 miles west of LaGrange, GA.

Atlanta Motor Speedway

The Atlanta Motor Speedway unreserved camping facilities are open, free of charge, to hurricane evacuees for RV and tent camping. For more information, call the speedway at 770-946-4211.

From GA Highway 19/41, enter the facility at Entrance “E,” and unreserved campgrounds will be on your left.

From I-75 and GA Highway 20, follow Lower Woolsey road to Entrance "H" and the Speedway Credential Building. Make a right into Speedway property and then another immediate right onto Richard Petty Boulevard. Follow Richard Petty Boulevard and turn left into Entrance "G". The campgrounds will be on your right.

Find a map of the speedway online (PDF), and visit the ticket office and gift store building for on-site assistance.

Plan your evacuation route, and make sure to consider the less-congested alternatives to interstate highways.

The I-75 South Metro Express Lanes are now open to northbound traffic only, free of charge. This applies only to the South Metro Express Lanes in Henry and Clayton counties. Tractor-trailers are prohibited from using the lanes.

Starting tomorrow at 8 a.m., all I-16 lanes will be westbound from Savannah to U.S. Route 441 in Dublin.
