Get the Most Out of Your Health Plan: Biometric Screenings for State Employees and Covered Spouses

Regular biometric screenings measure changes in your health over time. They can uncover risk factors that may otherwise go undetected, and help you learn what lifestyle changes may improve your health.

If you’re an employee of the State of Georgia, or a covered spouse of a Georgia employee, you may be eligible to schedule a free biometric screening and earn rewards in the process.

What Happens at a Biometric Screening?

At an SHBP-sponsored biometric screening, a health professional will measure your height, weight, cholesterol and glucose levels, triglycerides, and other factors. They will collect a sample of your blood.

Your results will not be shared with your employer.

Why? Better Health and Incentives

First, why not? It’s covered under your plan, there are hundreds of screenings available throughout the state, and it can detect unknown risks to your health!

If you’re looking for something more immediate, SHBP’s Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, UnitedHealthcare, and Kaiser Permanente plans all offer monetary incentives for completing an annual biometric screening, among other tasks.

Incentives for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or UnitedHealthcare

As a covered employee or spouse, you can earn up to 480 well-being incentive credits to offset eligible medical and pharmacy expenses. To earn your first 240 credits, complete these two actions before November 30:

  • Assess your health with the RealAge® test, confidential, online questionnaire. It takes only 15 minutes to complete.

  • Complete a biometric screening, either through your physician or at an SHBP-sponsored screening event.

Improve your health and earn up to 240 more credits with over-the-phone coaching, online health tracking, or a combination of both.

SHBP will deposit earned credits into your account(s) as you complete the tasks.
