Medical School Scholarship Applications Due

May 11, 2012
Rural doctor

Every year Georgia seeks dedicated physicians to serve in rural communities, where access to healthcare is often limited. If are attending or will soon be attending medical school and hope to practice in a rural community, you should consider applying for the Medical Student Scholarship Program.

In exchange for your commitment to serve in a rural community upon your graduation, you'll receive up to $20,000 a year to defray the cost of tuition. During the course of medical school, you may apply for and accept the scholarship up to four times. For each year you accept funds, you'll practice medicine in a rural community full-time for a full year.

To apply for the scholarship for the next academic year, you'll need to submit your application by June 1. Visit the Georgia Board of Physician Workforce for more details.
