New License Plates Available

May 16, 2012
New Georgia license plate

Starting this week, you'll see new license plates on all Georgia roadways. Designed by Forsyth-based artist Linda Sosebee, the new plate caught state residents' attention last summer during the Georgia License Plate Design Contest and later caught Governor Nathan Deal's eye as well.

As the new licenses plates roll out, they'll replace the older plates. If you received your current license plate before Dec. 2003, you'll get your new plate at your next vehicle registration. If you received your plate after Dec. 2003, you'll get your new plate beginning in May 2013. If you have a specialty license plate, you can still customize your plate, but you'll also need to replace the old specialty plate with a new one.

If you'd like to add the optional "In God We Trust" decal to your new plate, you'll be able to request your free decal in July. Contact your County Tax Commissioner's Office for more information.
