Georgia Lottery to Sell Tickets Online

July 23, 2012
The Georgia Lottery will soon sell tickets online.

Among the vanguard of state lotteries expanding into Internet sales, the Georgia Lottery Corporation announced last Thursday that it will sell tickets online for Powerball, Mega Millions and Fantasy 5 as early as this fall.

Reporting a record contribution of more than $900 million for both the Pre-K program and the HOPE Scholarship this year, the lottery hopes that its foray into online sales will provide even more funding for students across the state.

To encourage players to take advantage of online sales, lottery officials also announced last week the iHOPE debit card. The card, which will allow lottery players to purchase tickets and receive winnings via electronic accounts, may also be used for routine retail exchanges.
