Brookhaven Launches Into Cityhood

December 17, 2012
The iconic stone pillar from Brookhaven, the state's newest city, serves as the city's logo.

After electing their first mayor and city council less than two weeks ago, Brookhaven residents today see their city open municipal operations.

Sworn in last Monday, Mayor J. Max Davis and council members Rebecca Chase Williams, Jim Eyre, Bates Mattison and Joe Gebbia met throughout last week to name interim city staff, sign a lease for temporary city offices and review the Brookhaven Commission's final report.

To learn more about the state's newest city, visit the city's official site and the Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association.
