Improving the Health of Georgia's Youngest Learners
Childhood obesity in Georgia is reaching an epidemic level. As many schools are scaling back their participation in the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, Georgia is providing incentives to schools to serve better food to students.
A new effort between Lt. Governor Casey Cagle's Healthy Kids Georgia, the Dole Food Company and Bright From the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is hoping to help children develop better eating habits. This collaboration will also promote increased physical activity in early childcare and education programs.
"We must work together to collaboratively present our children and families with healthy lifestyle options so we can bring about real change and tackle this daunting challenge," said Lt. Governor Casey Cagle.
