Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs is a very serious offense. When you commit a DUI, you not only put yourself and others in danger, but also open up the floodgates for a world of financial and legal hardship.

The legal limit for Blood Alcohol Content level is 0.08% for adults 21 and over. If you are driving a commercial vehicle, the BAC is 0.04%. If you are under 21, the BAC is 0.02%.

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety lists possible outcomes of DUI charges. The penalties that accompany a DUI charge are hefty. Even for a first offense, possible punishments include fines, jail time, safe driving courses, and increased car insurance rates. Second, third and fourth DUI charges become increasingly grave with a fourth DUI counting as a felony.

The best advice for avoiding a DUI is simple: don’t drive while under the influence of alcohol or other substances. Getting behind the wheel with impaired judgment is a careless decision with deadly consequences.
