Visiting the Capitol During the Legislative Session

January 30, 2014
The golden dome of the Georgia Capitol rises up into a blue sky dotted with clouds.

Visiting the Georgia Capitol during the legislative session can be an exciting opportunity to see the hustle and bustle of state government at work. The Senate and House legislative galleries are housed in the Capitol and are the center of activity during the session.

Tours at the Capitol differ throughout the year based on the season and on what activities will be taking place. Year round, guided group tours for groups of 10 to 60 people are available with a reservation from Monday through Friday at 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM. From April through December, the Capitol also offers guided walk-in tours comprised of one to nine people with no reservation required.

In addition to tours led by a guide, you can also take a self-guided tour of the Capitol using either a brochure or an application available for download on smartphones. The app provides a unique experience for those who want a more in-depth tour of the historic Capitol. Videos, pictures, and narration are just a few of the features available for those who download the free app.

For more information, visit the Capitol tours website or call 404-463-4536 to make a reservation. Choose the tour experience that will be best for you, and enjoy visiting the Georgia Capitol during the legislative session!
