Yesterday concluded the General Primary Runoff for 2014. In a tight finish, the votes stand with David Perdue gaining the Republican U.S. Senate nomination over Jack Kingston. Perdue's background as the former CEO of both Reebok and Dollar General provides a stark contrast to Kingston's 11 terms in Congress. Perdue will now face Democrat Michelle Nunn for the U.S. Senate seat.

In another tight finish, the Republican nomination for State School Superintendent went to Richard Woods, while the Democratic nomination goes to Valarie Wilson. The position of superintendent is that of the top executive in the state school system and makes decisions regarding school staff members and educational programs.

For the complete list of yesterday's nominees and results, check out the Secretary of State's website. Don't forget to get out there and vote when possible!

Some votes are still being tallied. Be sure to check back on July 29 for a certified vote count.
