Summer is just around the corner. Are you prepared for summer storms? If not, the place to learn all you need to know is the Georgia Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS).

As the state’s preparedness, response, and recovery agency, GEMA/HS works to prevent and respond to all emergencies in Georgia.

GEMA/HS recently updated its website, improving ease-of-use and access to information.

Get Ready

Prepare for any disaster with Ready Georgia.

Launched in 2008, this program has been helping Georgians successfully plan ahead, with tools and instructional materials developed specifically for the types of disasters that are likely to strike our state.

Stay Informed

When disaster strikes, you can turn to GEMA/HS for the lastest news, including closures, shelter information, and how you can help fellow Georgians in need.

Recover

The agency’s job goes beyond disaster prep. After any disaster, GEMA/HS is responsible for coordinating relief efforts, including acting as the administer of federal relief funds. It coordinates local government recovery efforts as well as individual assistance.

Through its grant programs, GEMA/HS provides assistance to local emergency response units, on topics such as hazard mitigation, urban security, and emergency management.

GEMA/HS also provides training to make sure your local emergency management agency is ready for any challenge.
