Beware of Text Scams

Don't Click. Don't Respond. Delete.

Scammers are increasingly targeting Georgians with fake text messages that appear to come from trusted agencies or services. These messages often create urgency and attempt to steal your personal or financial information.

Learn how to spot common scams and protect yourself.

Driver's License Suspension Scam

Fraudsters impersonate the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS), claiming your license will be suspended due to unpaid fines or violations. These texts often include links to fake websites. DDS will never request payment or personal information via text.

Check Your Status Securely

Log in to DDS online services to review your record and any legitimate notices.

Peach Pass Toll Scam

Scam texts claim you owe money for unpaid tolls and direct you to click a link to pay. These messages are not from Peach Pass or the State Road and Tollway Authority. Legitimate agencies will not request payments or personal information by text.

What to Do

Don't click the link, delete the message, and contact Peach Pass directly if unsure.

Government Imposter Scams

Taxes, Benefits, Violations

Messages may claim issues with taxes, Social Security benefits, or traffic violations and pressure you to act immediately.

Red Flags

Watch out for threats of arrest or penalties, requests for personal or financial information, and urgent demands to click links or make payments.

Package Delivery Scam

Texts posing as USPS, FedEx, or other carriers claim there's an issue with your delivery and ask you to confirm details.
