Renew Vehicle Registration

You have to renew your vehicle’s registration each year.

You should receive a renewal notice by the beginning of your registration month. Even if you do not receive the notice, the taxes and penalties still apply.

Online registration renewal is available in some counties. To renew online or use an MVD Self-Service Tag Kiosk (in participating counties), you will need:

  • License plate number or VIN number

  • Driver’s license number or Letter ID

  • All registration fees, taxes, and convenience fees, paid by either debit card, credit card, or electronic check. Look up your Renewal Fee Estimate before beginning.

  • Proof of liability insurance on file (if applicable)

  • A passing emissions inspection (in counties requiring emission testing.)

How Do I Renew Vehicle Registration?
