2026 Election
Election Day - General Election Runoff
Election Day for the General Election Runoff is December 1, 2026. Polling places are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Registered voters may vote in person at their designated polling precinct on Election Day. You can find your precinct on your My Voter Page or by contacting your County Board of Registrar's Office.
If you are voting at the polls in 2026, here is what you need to know about the process.
Runoff Elections
In Georgia, if no candidate receives a majority of the vote (50 percent plus one) in the General Election, the top two finishers will advance to a runoff.
Polling Hours
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be allowed to cast your ballot.
Mandatory Photo ID
You are required to show a valid photo ID to vote in person:
- A Georgia driver's license, even if expired; U.S. passport; military ID; or tribal ID
- If you do not have a valid ID, you can obtain a free Georgia Voter ID Card at any County Board of Registrar's Office or Department of Driver Services (DDS).
At the Polling Place
When you arrive, a poll worker will:
- Verify your photo ID
- Confirm you are registered and at the correct precinct
- Issue you a voter access card or paper ballot to cast your vote
Provisional Ballot
If your name is not on the list or there is an issue with your eligibility, you can request a provisional ballot.
Your vote will be set aside and counted as long as you resolve the eligibility issue, such as providing a missing ID, with your county registrar within three days after the election.
Reporting Issues
If you encounter any problems at the polls, please contact your County Board of Registrar's Office or the Georgia Secretary of State:
- (404) 656-2871, Metro Atlanta
- (877) 725-9797, toll-free
- Submit a complaint via the Secretary of State's website.
Absentee Ballot Reminder
If you are returning a mail-in ballot, it must be received by your county registrar by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
