Renew Boat Registration

Boat registration renewals are due every three years.

Complete your boat registration renewal by submitting an application to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) along with your renewal application fee. All fees are based on the size of your vessel. See list of current vessel registration fees.

  • Gather What You’ll Need

    To renew your boat registration, you will need the following:

    • Georgia Vessel Registration Application (if renewing by mail)
    • Driver’s license number
    • Hull Identification Number (HIN)
    • Vessel make, length, and year built
    • Method of payment (credit card, check, or money order)
  • Renew Your Boat Registration

    You can renew your boat registration online, by phone, or by mail.

    • Renew online
      1. Visit the DNR Vessel Registration and Renewal portal.
      2. Log in or create a new account.
      3. Follow the steps to renew your registration.
      4. Credit card must be used for payment.
    • Renew by phone

      Call DNR at 1-800-366-2661 to renew your boat registration. A credit card must be used for payment via phone.

    • Renew by mail

      Mail a completed application and payment to:

      Atlanta, GA 31193-4943

      Make checks or money orders payable to GEORGIA DNR. Cash is not accepted for payments.

  • Next Steps

    • Boat registrations are renewed instantly after the application is approved.
    • You will receive an updated registration card and boat decal in the mail approximately 7 to 14 business days after approval.
