Apply for a Learner's Permit

An instructional permit, also known as a learner’s permit, is for Georgia teens preparing to get their full driver’s license.

Apply for a Georgia Provisional Driver's License (under 18)

Once you meet certain requirements, you can apply for a provisional driver’s license at age 16.

Apply for a Georgia Driver's License (18 and over)

Georgians who are 18 and older may apply for a non-commercial driver’s license (Class C).

Renew a Georgia Driver's License

You must renew your driver’s license every 8 years.

Change Address on an Existing Georgia Driver’s License

If you are an existing Georgia driver and change your address within Georgia, you have 60 days to update your license.

Transfer an Out-of-State License to Georgia

New to Georgia? You must apply for a Georgia driver's license within 30 days of becoming a resident.

Apply for a State ID Card (Alternative ID)

A State Identification Card is a valid form of photo ID. Any Georgian old enough to sign their name or make a mark indicating their legal signature can apply.

A REAL ID-compliant Georgia driver's license or state-issued identification card has a black or gold star in the upper right-hand corner.
